Bath time has turned into Ollie + DaDa reggae dance sessions in the shower. He just loves it. I’ve never seen him so happy.
I was gifted a lovely new camera over the holidays. (Thank You Rye) Naturally, I have been looking for every excuse to get into photography. So, I’m joining in on the 52 PROJECT craze. Each week of this year I will post a picture I took of our Ollie. I’m excited to see what the year brings and to have the opportunity to document our man grow right before our eyes…with a REAL camera! I’m already thinking how we can bound these images into a beautiful journal.

Another new series we’re introducing is HIT LIST. I don’t know about you, but I always have a running list of favorite things on my mind, in my phone, my computer, my emails. You know… things like recipes to try, stuff to buy for the house, things to add to my wardrobe, cute stuff for the babe, fun crafts to try…so on and so forth. Before I know it, I have 8 gatrillion folders scattered about and I’ve forgotten where I saved what.
Needless to say, I was dying for a way to organize them all. So, here each month (or as a collective group inspires us) we will post our current top ten favorites with links to boot! Thus, becoming our very own ‘hit list’. As per usual, this week I have HOME on the brain. I decided to share some odds and ends we still need to get to make this place just right…and maybe a few things I just want You know how it goes…enjoy!
1. TEAPOT 2. TOILET TISSUE HOLDER 3. INDUSTRIAL WALL BASKET 4. WONDERFUL BADGE 5. GOLD TIP BULB 6. CANVAS LAUNDRY CART 7. CLOCK 8. KAWECO CALLIGRAPHY PEN 9. DESK CHAIR (Similar) 10. ENAMEL COFFEE MUGS
We have quite a few things that we’ve made ourselves along the way. In this new series, We Made It, we’re going to feature fun DIY projects that we’ve done, plan to try or that have been shared with us. Hope you’ll follow along.
A few of you have asked about the black + white triangle bins in our Master Bedroom. So, they’re first up…because We Made them!
We had 2 of the white Ikea EXPEDIT 8-Cube shelving units for as long as I can remember. They’re typical Ikea…probably one of their most recognizable items. I had used them for bookshelves in every apartment.
With no budget for new dressers + no need for bookshelves we figured we may as well make the best of them. I went to beloved Ikea and purchased 16 of their black DRONA boxes with a plan…
All you need is…
If you know me by now, I love black + white and I love triangles. I mean, have you seen our bathroom floor. I figured go with what I love. Although, I was tempted to rotate the triangles and play with different scales…I knew taping off 1 large triangle would be easiest. Ok, call me lazy. So, I assembled the boxes, lined them up and painted away. They each took 2 coats.
Watched them dry with my fan club.
Pulled the tape. I pull the tape the second I think it’s dry…I’m very impatient when it comes to my crafts.
And we set them in place!
A couple hours and dollars later…Now, we have them everyday to enjoy, add a little pattern to the room and most importantly conceal all of our crap.
We Made It!
Besides the obvious, that this is a killer piece of hand embroidered art (By William Edmonds) Its the words I want to share the most. They are my new daily mantra.
A new year, a new you + a new plan. Rye and I have completed a lot of the work we set out to in our home…And you’ve been a long for the ride. It’s an accomplishment beyond our wildest dreams!
We’ve enjoyed sharing it all with you and want to keep the blog going. Our blogging resolution for the new year is to keep at it…frequently! So, we’re going to continue to share exciting projects and home happenings, but expand a little bit too.
Stay tuned for some new topics + series that we can’t wait to share with you. Above all else, thanks for tagging along the past year.
We love you guys!
